 Physical 

Practicing healthy behaviors around physical activity, nutrition, sleep, substance use, preventive exams; managing chronic conditions.

Moving More:

  • MHealthy physical activity programs: A variety of programs are available, including physical activity classes, online resources and Active U, MHealthy's annual physical activity challenge
  • MHealthy physical activity classes: In-person physical activity classes are available at five Ann Arbor campus locations and  dozens of online classes are available in the MHealthy Physical Activity Library on MiVideo
  • U-M Fitness Centers: Several fitness centers across each campus are open to faculty and staff 
  • Recreational Sports: Fitness memberships, exercise classes, personal training, small group training, intramural sports, club sports, outdoor adventure trips, gear rental, and more
  • U-M School of Kinesiology community programs: Classes and camps for all ages such as swimming, lifeguard, tennis, golf, Lifetime Fitness classes and even summer camps and sports clinics for kids
  • UM-Flint physical activity programs: A variety of programs and services are available including fitness classes, personal training and fitness assessments, and Intramural Sports Leagues
  • UM-Dearborn physical activity programs: A variety of programs and services are available including wellness center classes
  • Public skating at Yost Ice Arena: Enjoy skating (skate rental available) at one of the most iconic rinks in college and the historic home of Michigan Hockey 

Eating Well:

  • MHealthy nutrition programs and resources: A variety of programs available, including consultations with dietitians, cooking classes, chef demos, and farmers’ markets
  • MHealthy Recipes: An online library of healthy recipes
  • MHealthy Dining Program: Use this new labeling system to help you make more informed food choices at campus vending machines, at select eateries and through select catering providers
  • Nourish Your Whole Self: Based on the concept of intuitive eating, this program helps to build a lifestyle focused on eating mindfully, being kind to yourself, enjoying movement, and being thankful for your body

Weight Management and Metabolic Syndrome:

  • Weight Control Services at UM: University of Michigan Health has gathered experts across many specialties – including nutrition, exercise physiology and personal training, mental health, gastroenterology, cardiology, endocrinology, and bariatric surgery. Together, they design programs and provide treatment options to help you based on your specific needs.

Sleep:

  • Michigan Medicine Sleep Disorders Centers: Three locations for the diagnosis and treatment of patients who have trouble sleeping or with daytime alertness

  • Sleep Resources: MHealthy has compiled a variety of tips, programs, and resources to help the university community get quality sleep

  • MHealthy Portal, powered by Asset Health: Includes Path to Wellness programs and Knowledge courses focused on sleep. All active, benefits-eligible faculty, staff and their U-M health plan enrolled spouse/OQA can access this program on the MHealthy Portal powered by Asset Health

Substance Use:

  • Tobacco Consultation Service: A variety of free tobacco treatment services and programs to help you quit
  • Alcohol Management Program: A confidential health education program for those with mild to moderate alcohol problems who want to drink less alcohol or none at all
  • Alcohol Management Fact Sheet: Information about how consumption of less alcohol can have many positive overall health benefits
  • U-M Addiction Treatment Services: Personalized assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for those struggling with substance use disorders, including prescription medications, alcohol, and other drugs

Managing Health Conditions:

  • Back Pain: Tips and resources for managing back pain
  • Diabetes Prevention Program: Designed to help qualifying faculty and staff prevent diabetes
  • U-M MEND: Inpatient and outpatient services and education programs in the general area of endocrine and metabolic disorders (such as diabetes) from the Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology & Diabetes (MEND) 
  • Cancer Prevention and Cancer Resources: Links to resources, including many offered by the Comprehensive Cancer Center 

Work-related Health:

  • Occupational Health Service: Assistance in the prevention, diagnoses, treatment, and rehabilitation of job-related illnesses and injuries
  • Ergonomics: Support and resources to improve your comfort and decrease risk of injury at work
  • Change in Ability to Work Resources: Confidential assistance for when you are experiencing a change in your ability to perform effectively at work, whether physical, mental, emotional, etc.

  • Connect to Community: An online portal that connects University of Michigan students, staff, and faculty to engagement opportunities with non-profits, schools and other community agencies
  • Office of Decedent Affairs: Part of the Michigan Medicine Department of Social Work, ODA is the centralized point of contact for ongoing questions and concerns before, during, and after the death of a loved one.
