Volunteer for assignments outside of your area of comfort.

Visit another department or unit to learn about processes that are different than those in your unit yet serve the same purpose.

Utilize bystander intervention strategies in appropriate circumstances.

Use positive inquiry to gain understanding of other's opinions and where they are coming from.

Use "I" statements (e.g., I think that's a great idea because...").

Undertake a home remodeling project.

The next time you need outdoor recreational equipment look into renting it from the Adventure Leadership Rental Center.

The next time you attend a U-M meeting or class outside of your unit, introduce yourself to those sitting at your table and ask everyone something about themselves.

Talk to colleagues within and outside of your department for suggestions about a particular resource that is needed for your department.
