What is a CSA?
CSAs are the most direct route to get your food directly from a farmer you know and trust. Generally, when you join a CSA you pay in advance to receive a weekly box of vegetables in season (often June through October) from a local farm.
Benefits:
With a CSA, you are giving a farmer a vote of confidence and some security with startup capital. In return, you get a discount on your produce and some of the best food available anywhere. There are also some innovative CSAs that offer more than just vegetables, including prepared foods, humanely raised meat, chicken, and eggs. As a CSA member, you can get to know your farmer, share in the rewards of the season, and experience the wonderful benefits farm-to-table foods have to offer.
