The MHealthy Supportive Leader in Well-being Award was created to honor the many supportive supervisors who encourage our MHealthy Champions to continue to improve the culture of well-being in their areas. This is the award’s inaugural year.
The MHealthy Supportive Leader in Well-being Award celebrates supervisors across the University of Michigan who have MHealthy Champions in their areas and who are making a positive difference in their work unit (and community, where applicable) by actively supporting their unit’s MHealthy Champion. To be considered, the nominated supervisor must have an MHealthy Champion who has served at least one full term (two years) in the program.
When nominating someone (or yourself), consider the following award criteria. The supportive supervisor should be someone who:
Has a strong commitment to building a culture of well-being within their work unit.
Is dedicated to actively supporting the MHealthy Champion in their unit.
Models inclusivity and diversity in their work and outreach within their department or work unit.
Is supporting an MHealthy Champion who has served at least one full term (two years) in the Champion role.
Also consider the following when nominating someone (or yourself):
Number of years served as a supportive supervisor of an MHealthy Champion.
How does the supervisor actively support their Champion? List specific actions.
How has the supervisor helped the Champion in influencing or inspiring others in the workplace? List specific actions.
To ensure your nomination has the best chance to be considered:
Describe in detail the specific actions that led to your nomination.
Nominations should focus on things that the individual has done, continually does or has already accomplished.
Supportive supervisors can be nominated by their manager, their MHealthy Champion, a Wellness Coordinator, their work colleagues, or they can self-nominate.
Nominators must submit a clear statement on how the individual nominee meets the award criteria.
Statements should be a minimum of three paragraphs*, describing in detail what the individual nominee has done to qualify for the award.
Nominations are accepted March 9 – April 17, 2026. They are reviewed in late April.
*Nomination documents that are too general or too brief will not be considered.
The MHealthy Supportive Leader in Well-being Award winner and finalists are selected by the Champion Award Review Team. The review team includes members of the MHealthy Champion, Wellness Coordinator and leadership teams.
The Champion Award Review Team reviews all the nominations. A total of three (3) finalists are selected.
Award decisions are made in late April. The three finalists will be announced via email in early May.
The finalists are formally recognized and the winner is announced at the annual MHealthy Champion Retreat (held this year on May 20). The directors/managers for all finalists will also receive an invitation to the Champion Retreat.
All nominees receive a letter of recognition and are formally recognized in the June Champion Newsletter and on the Champion Portal.
The (2) runner-up finalists receive a Certificate of Recognition and gift.
The award winner receives a trophy award and a monetary gift card.
