MHealthy is a university-wide effort to support the health and well-being of university faculty, staff and community. The MHealthy mission is to serve the U-M community in leading fulfilling lives by meeting their needs through a diverse set of well-being programs and services. MHealthy fosters a sense of belonging, positive and inclusive work cultures, and healthy environments that contribute to U-M being a great public university. .
The MHealthy Advisory Committee, composed of members from each campus and Michigan Medicine, draws on the rich resources of the university to help address the national challenge in health care by developing innovative long-range solutions to improving health at the university and beyond.
The advisory committee, along with the university’s Chief Health Officer, has a contributing role in the university's major health and well-being initiatives and health care benefit strategies.
Its guidance and support has helped to shape several key areas, including:
-
MHealthy's evolution from a three-year initiative to an ongoing program that represents the university's continuing commitment to health and well-being.
-
Mental and emotional health initiatives in workplace health promotion and disease management through risk reduction.
-
Expansion of programming addressing social determinants of health.
-
Input into key university initiatives such as the Well-Being Collective and Campus Plan 2050
-
Health care benefit strategies related to cost design, sustainable behavior change, and communication of changes to the university community.
The advisory committee plays a vital role in the development of programs that stand to make the greatest difference in improving health and satisfaction and integrate wellness efforts with benefit programs for even more impactful efforts toward prevention.
