Four support groups are available for faculty and staff this fall. There is no charge for any of the groups, however, registration is requested. All groups are facilitated by professional, licensed counselors from the Faculty and Staff Counseling and Consultation Office (FASCCO). Please see each group description for registration information. Support for Those Experiencing the Death of a Spouse or Partner
This is an ongoing drop-in style confidential support group for anyone experiencing the death of a spouse or partner.
This group will address various topics that may include loneliness, parenting, social isolation, new role/identity as widow or widower, etc. The intent of the group will be driven by topics that are important to the participants. This offering emphasizes group discussion of participants as well as educational components. No one will be required to speak, but doing so often helps the grieving process.
There is no charge for faculty or staff to attend. Participants are encouraged to bring a lunch.
When: First Thursday of every month beginning October 3, 2019

Stress Management and Resilience at Work
This is a four-week educational and support group for faculty & staff who are experiencing job stress. This interactive group will explore the causes and dynamics of job stress, including both personal and organizational factors. Participants will identify their own signs of job stress and develop stress management strategies, in order to reduce and prevent its personal impact and to enhance resilience at work.
Sessions are at no charge to faculty and staff. Information shared in the group will be strictly confidential.
Class size is limited so those interested are encouraged to register by Oct. 16. Attendance at all four sessions is requested.

Support Group for Postdocs
FASCCO is offering a support group for postdocs. This monthly drop-in group will address various topics such as stress management, work/life balance, re-location adjustment, difficult career choices, impostor syndrome, navigating work relationships and making social connections. Lunch is provided for attendees and registration is required.

Support Group for New Moms Returning to Work
This ongoing drop-in style support group is for women returning to work following the birth and/or adoption of a child. The group is designed for women in their third trimester of pregnancy through the time their child is two years old.
The group will address various topics, including preparing for maternity leave, work/life balance, separation anxiety, familial adjustments, lactation support, baby blues, sleep hygiene, feeding issues, childcare, returning to work, and building a post-partum support system. This offering emphasizes group discussion of participant experiences as well as educational components. There is no charge for staff or faculty to attend. Participants are encouraged to bring lunch.
