Vaccine Coverage

U-M's health plans and its Prescription Drug Plan cover approved vaccinations as a preventive benefit. Understanding where they are covered is important to avoid out-of-pocket charges. 

Medicare Advantage members: please pay special attention to coverage differences between your provider’s office and participating pharmacies.

For Individuals Enrolled in a Plan Other Than Medicare Advantage

The following vaccines are covered at participating provider offices using medical plans or at pharmacies using Prime Therapeutics coverage: 

  • Covid-19

  • Influenza (flu) 

  • Pneumonia 

  • Hepatitis A&B 

  • Shingles (Varicella)

  • Tetanus 

  • Tetanus, diphtheria, whooping cough (Tdap)

  • Meningococcal disease 

  • Human Papillomavirus (HPV) 

  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)

  • Polio 

  • Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) 

  • Tuberculosis (TB)

For Individuals Enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan

The vaccines below are covered at participating provider offices using your medical plan. All other vaccinations will be denied by the health plan.

  • Covid-19 

  • Influenza (flu)

  • Hepatitis B
