  • Diabetes Prevention Program - Prediabetes makes a person more likely to develop type 2 diabetes within five years, and raises the risk of other serious health problems such as heart attack and stroke. Learn more about a program that may delay or prevent diabetes through modest lifestyle changes.

  • Diabetes Supplies - All U-M health plans cover diabetic testing supplies and equipment when medically necessary, prescribed by the treating physician and obtained from an affiliated provider. Where you can obtain your supplies depends on the plan you are enrolled in and the type of device prescribed. 

  • Gender-Affirming Care - All U-M health plans cover a variety of medically necessary gender-affirming treatments for members diagnosed with gender dysphoria.

  • Hearing Aids and Services - All U-M health plans cover hearing tests and medically necessary hearing aids, supporting productivity, safety and overall wellness. These benefits also help reduce out-of-pocket costs and address health risks such as dementia and depression, improving quality of life for employees and retirees. 

  • Infertility - All U-M health plans cover services related to infertility. Some services will be covered only if provided by the Michigan Medicine Center for Reproductive Services.

  • Mental Health Resources - Every health plan offered by U-M provides coverage for mental health care.

  • Vaccine Coverage - All U-M health plans and the Prescription Drug Plan cover approved vaccinations as a preventive benefit. Understanding where they are covered is important to prevent out-of-pocket charges.
