"A Breath of Fresh Air" Guided Nature Experiences

Staff, faculty, and students are invited to participate in a unique and energizing nature break. This session will introduce the positive effects of being in nature on our social and emotional well-being. You will practice mindful attention and appreciation for the natural environment, and learn how to refresh your energy and reduce stress by being outside. 

All sessions provide guidance to appreciate nature in all its forms and include a variety of activities and options to support nature experiences. You will also learn how to use the Nature Rx resources in the Michigan App, to take advantage of nearby nature spots for taking breaks, restoring, and for mental and physical health and wellbeing.

  • Time: 12 – 12:45 p.m.

  • Location: Meet at the grassy area just in front of the Biological Sciences Building/Museum of Natural History, 1105 North University, Ann Arbor (near the Central Campus Transit Center and the Ruthven Building). Look for "A Breath of Fresh Air" signs.

During this 45-minute session, facilitators will guide participants through mindful attention practices to refresh energy and reduce stress. You will learn how to cultivate a sense of awe and wonder while exploring the natural beauty on campus The session will also introduce you to the Nature Rx resources available right in the Michigan App.

The event will be held rain or shine, so please dress for the weather and wear comfortable attire. 

  • Special activities for this session: In connection with Climate Week and the Human Health and Well-Being theme year, we’ll explore ways to support personal resilience in nature while also exploring nearby trees and pollinator gardens.

Please note:

  • This event requires moving or walking outdoors over a distance of approximately a quarter mile.
  • Options will be provided for those who wish to sit or explore at their own pace and ability.
  • Please wear comfortable attire and dress for the weather.
  • In the event of hazardous weather events, you will be notified if the event is cancelled.
