The Leadership Development curriculum is designed for individuals new to U-M, newly promoted to a supervisory position, or interested in learning more about leadership.

Foundations of Leadership

Foundations of Leadership (FOL), is a leadership development course for U-M faculty and staff. It is designed for leaders with at least one direct report that are new to the university or their role. This course provides consistent leadership development strategies to U-M faculty and staff across all work locations making it easier to participate by removing the cost barrier.

Leaders are tasked with being consistent, even during times of change and transition. We know this can be challenging. We created this toolkit to help our leaders plan for the future while embracing the inevitability of change in the workplace.

Micro-Consulting

Micro-consulting is a short burst of work with a unit. Micro-consultants engage with units who require additional expertise to supplement their in-house knowledge to tackle small culture change projects, team development efforts and strategic business goals/objectives. This service is available at no cost to U-M units.

Coaching is a short-to-medium-term relationship between a manager or senior leader and a consultant (internal or external) with the purpose of improving performance (Douglas and McCauley, 1999). Coaching is not networking, mentoring or therapy.
