FMLA Guidelines: Notice to the Employee

The department should provide written notice to an employee that an FMLA qualifying absence will be counted toward the employee's 12 or 26 weeks of eligibility under the FMLA, or that a request for FMLA is denied.

  • An absence for an FMLA qualifying event will be counted toward the employee's 12 or 26 weeks of eligibility under the FMLA from the beginning of the employee's absence.
