The University of Michigan offers a variety of Medicare Advantage health plan options for benefit-eligible retirees, survivors and LTD participants who are eligible for Medicare.
U-M’s Medicare Advantage plans are custom-designed for our retirees, survivors and LTD participants, and are not available on the commercial market. They closely mirror the coverage of our plans for active employees and do so at lower out-of-pocket cost to members than commercial Medicare Advantage plans.
Important Notes For Medicare-Enrolled Members
-
Failure to enroll in Medicare Part A and Part B will result in disenrollment from your U-M health plan. In addition, there could be a penalty added to your Medicare premium.
-
After enrolling in Medicare Parts A and B, provide the university with your enrollment information using the Medicare Information eForm. You also can contact the Shared Services Center - HR Customer Care for the downloadable Medicare Information Form.
-
Maintaining enrollment in Medicare parts A and B is required.
-
Members can be enrolled in only one Medicare Advantage plan; Medicare Advantage plans do not coordinate with any other Medicare insurance plans, such as Medigap. Please take the time to think about in which plan to continue your enrollment.
