Unconscious Bias Learning Suite

Understanding and mitigating bias is a lifelong journey. This course provides a review of bias, explores what bias can look like and how it shows up in the workplace. We specifically look at the types of bias common in the workplace and platforms that allow bias to thrive; while discussing strategies you can use to interrupt and mitigate bias.

There are five modules in the learning suite:

Council of Nontraditional Students (COUNTS) Toolkit for Supporting Students

This online, self-paced toolkit provides an interactive learning experience for university staff to become more knowledgeable about common identities that may make students feel marginalized on the Ann Arbor campus. We will explore common challenges many nontraditional students face and discuss tips and tricks that staff can easily implement to best support students.

Unconscious Bias in Recruiting and Hiring

Unconscious bias can exert an influence during the process of recruiting and hiring. This course provides a deeper look into how unconscious bias impacts decision making during the hiring process while looking at interventions to minimize the impact of bias in our hiring and selection processes.

Work to improve your relationship with a colleague who has a different demeanor, workstyle or background than you. Invite them for coffee and get to know them.
