Leverage the strengths of a direct report in a different capacity by assigning them to a role that is unfamiliar to them.

Invite peers to lunch to share success stories about work life balance in their units as well as areas for opportunities.

Lead an underperforming working or subcommittee group.

Lead an orchestra, band or singing group.

Invite someone who did not speak up during a discussion to share their thoughts with you afterward. Listen, make eye contact, and reflect on their perspective before commenting.

Invite new employees to accompany you to a DEI event and to discuss it afterward.
