Cooking Matters

Planning and preparing meals can be an incredible challenge in an already stressful time. Cooking Matters® at Home offers ideas for how you can use what foods are available to create quick, family-friendly, low-cost meals.

Cooking Matters® courses offer FREE, five week long virtual cooking courses to adults, parents, and families. Each course is team-taught by a nutrition educator.

Goals include:

  • Food Storage & Kitchen Safety - Help maximize household food resources, store or preserve their fresh foods safely, and avoid numerous grocery store trips during this health crisis.

  • Family Meals - Help plan and prepare quick, budget-friendly, chaos free meals at home during this public health crisis.

  • Kids in the Kitchen - Encourage families to work together  to make healthy meals and snacks that everyone will enjoy, especially while home from school, work, and daycare.

  • Recipes - Learn how to adjust recipes to maximize your food resources and meet yours and your family’s needs, especially in the context of COVID-19.

  • Snacking - Encourage smart snack choices for you and your kids.
