Approximately 1,250 employees at Michigan Medicine are members of the House Officers Association. House Officers play an important role in Michigan Medicine’s education, research and patient care missions through a variety of work, predominantly in the areas of patient care.
Since 1973, the university has recognized these House Officers as a bargaining unit. House Officers covered by this contract are eligible for a comprehensive package including generous health care benefits, paid medical and parental leave, a specialized long term disability plan, and a yearly payment to encourage savings.
From February 2023 until June 2023, bargaining teams from Michigan Medicine and HOA negotiated a new four-year contract. The contract was ratified in June 2023 and is in effect until 2027. Information and updates can be found on the Michigan Medicine Human Resources website.
