Organize a session for a non profit or professional organization about the importance of and the ways to approach succession planning within the organization.

Organize a group of people to attend a lunchtime event. Afterwards, discuss it and encourage different opinions.

Opt out of office gossip.

Offer to work with a low-performing staff member or student intern through a task they struggle with on their own.

Offer to coach a peer from a different group than your own.

Offer different perspectives than those already presented.

Nominate a staff or faculty member to serve on a a committee or work group.

Nominate a rising leader to serve on a U-M committee or working group that will expose them to new challenges and responsibilities, and networking opportunities.

Nominate a direct report who demonstrates accountability for an award.

Model the behaviors that you want your direct reports to exhibit; discuss with faculty or staff the behavior expectations you expect of them.
