Incorporate behavioral questions in interviews (e.g., Describe a situation where others you were working with disagreed with your ideas. How did you respond?).

Invite colleagues to a conversation pertaining to hiring practices that demonstrate and promote behaviors found in the Michigan Expectations Model.

Invite an HR representative to speak at a lunch for hiring managers to reivew the inclusing hiring practices. Assign the group to read Avoiding Discrimination in Job Postings beforehand.

Introduce U-M colleagues and other stakeholders to one another.

Introduce Liberating Structures tools to a work team or event planning team.

Input a survey comment the next time you take a survey sent by a U-M entity. Think of ways to word the comment with constructive, proactive feedback and use that method.

Incorporate inclusive hiring practices for a non-profit organization you are involved in.

If you must check emails, designate one particular chunk of time each weekend to do so.

If you disagree, avoid personality attacks. Instead try something like, "I see your point, however I disagree. This is why...".

If someone vents to you, try to put yourself in their shoes to better understand their perspective. Agree that their situation sounds rough or frustrating.
