During the question and answer portion of a panel you are involved in, listen to those with different opinions, and acknowledge their point of view. Ask clarifying questions if needed to respond.

Create a speakers group to promote and practice the creation of effective, impactful narratives pertaining to your unit, and the organization's mission or vision.

Create a plan and an outline for the next message or announcement you need to make. Determine your audience, the main message, and your main objective as well as facts or a story that substantiate your topic and objective, and your closing.

Create a communications coaching program for your unit.

Create a brief elevator speech about your role within the organization to someone you meet at a U-M class or event.

Craft a compelling message to motivate people to donate to a cause that you are passionate about.

Consider situations when you do not fully understand, yet feel reluctant to speak up. Reflect on the reasons why.

Coach a sports team or group.

Choose how to close your message (e.g., a call to action).
