PAR Job Aids and Other Tutorials

HRRIS Job Aids are created to assist unit and central office administrators with the complexity of the faculty and staff appointment process. Follow the instructions in the “Accessing Job Aids” section below to access the Google Drive folder.  For PAR transactions, also review MyLinc - PAR User Resources for Step-by-Step Overviews and Transaction Simulations.

PAR Error Messages

When creating a PAR, if an error message is received and assistance is needed to resolve the error, click on the link below and follow the instructions in the tool.  The tool also provides a link to each job aid if additional assistance is needed to create the PAR.

How to Use Job Aids:

This is a list of all documents in the HRRIS Job Aids Google Drive Folder.  It should be used when searching for information in HRRIS Job Aids.

To receive notifications when a job aid is updated in the spreadsheet above, follow these instructions: Turn on notifications for spreadsheet changes.

Four Categories of HRRIS Job Aids

1. Knowledge Articles 

These documents contain the ‘How to’ and ‘When to’ of HR processing, including processes that are done in University Human Resources administered by HRRIS.

2. Create Transaction 

These documents explain how to create different PAR transactions.  They contain:

  • Step-by-step (text only)
  • Scenario with screen shots
  • How to get help with Error Messages
  • Links to relevant policies, practices, procedures and ITS documentation

3. Stand Alone

These are resources that are helpful or necessary when processing HR transactions. 

4. Other Job Aids

  • Presentations
  • Miscellaneous information

Accessing Job Aids

HRRIS Job Aids are available in Google Drive. Once you are in the folder, click the dropdown arrow after HRRIS Job Aids and select Organize.  Then select Add Shortcut.  In the pop up window select All locations then My Drive and click the Add button.  See Quick Tips for Navigating Job Aids for more help.

For users without an M+Google account, access Google Drive here. Select the white box, "Go to Drive", if displayed on your screen. You may then be prompted to login twice: once with your umich email address; second, with your uniqname and Kerberos password.
