Take "A Breath of Fresh Air" This February

Law Quad interior with show on the ground and some visible oak leaves.

As the demands of the semester and the workday pile up, it’s easy to feel drained. You deserve a moment to step away from your screen, breathe deeply, and reconnect with the world around you. This February, you are invited to join "A Breath of Fresh Air," a unique nature break designed specifically for University of Michigan staff, faculty, and students to boost social and emotional well-being.

Register today to enjoy "A Breath of Fresh Air" at the Law Quad

What You’ll Experience

During this session, you’ll receive guidance on how to appreciate nature in all its forms. You will also discover how to navigate the Nature Rx resources within the Michigan App, a tool that helps you locate nearby nature spots for future mental and physical health breaks.

The session involves a gentle outdoor walk of approximately a quarter-mile, but you don’t need to worry about your pace. Options are provided if you prefer to sit, explore at your own speed, or require different accessibility accommodations.

Prepare for the Elements

To make the most of your experience, please dress comfortably and prepare for the Michigan winter weather. In the event of truly hazardous conditions, you will be notified of any cancellations, but otherwise, the program is a go regardless of the forecast.

Looking Ahead

If you can’t make it in February, you have more opportunities to prioritize your well-being later this year:

  • April 15: A late afternoon session (4 - 4:45 p.m.) at Ingalls Mall by the "Sunday Morning in Deep Waters" fountain.
  • June 3: A midday session (noon - 12:45 p.m.) amidst the blooms of the Nichols Arboretum Peony Garden.

Take the first step toward a more energized you. This program is brought to you by the Nature Rx Project Team, MHealthy, the Arts Initiative, and other campus partners dedicated to your health. For more information, visit the “A Breath of Fresh Air” webpage.
