What is Kids Kare at Home?

Kids Kare at Home is a back-up child care program for families at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, Dearborn, and UMHS. Kids Kare at Home gives you a back-up option when

  • your child is sick and cannot be sent to school/child care;
  • your regular child care is not available (e.g. inservice day).

By calling the number that is sent to you upon registration, you will be assigned a trained caregiver who will come to your home. (Click here for exceptions: http://hr.umich.edu/worklife/kidskare/faqs.html)

Kids Kare is available for children ages 13 and under (or older children with special needs who cannot be left alone).

Disclaimer: The University of Michigan’s Kids Kare at Home program is offered as an option for parents/guardians. The use of the program should be carefully considered by parents/guardians, taking into account individual situations and preferences. The caregivers for this program are screened and trained through a vendor, Safe at Home. Caregivers receive 8-10 hours of combined classroom and self-led training. The University of Michigan Work/Life Resource Center does not endorse or recommend any individual caregiver.
