Scheduling a Caregiver

You will be given the call-in number for our vendor, Safe at Home, upon registration.

Please call to schedule a caregiver as soon as you are sure that you will need one. Note that a cancellation fee may apply (http://hr.umich.edu/worklife/kidskare/docs/billingproc.pdf).

• The office is open during business hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) to schedule a caregiver. 
• From 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., a pager service is available, and a scheduler will call you back to discuss your needs.
• We recommend that you leave a message as soon as you know that you need care, even if it is in the middle of the night.

The vendor will then seek a caregiver to fit your needs, and call you back with a confirmation. 

The process of scheduling care, from the time you speak to a scheduler to the time the caregiver arrives at your home, can take up to 4 hours.

For example, if you leave a message after 10 p.m., your request will be addressed no earlier than 7 a.m. and may take up to 4 hours from that time for a caregiver to arrive.
