Amy Byron-Oilar is the Chief People Officer for the Stephen M. Ross School of Business with responsibility for developing and executing staff and academic human resources strategy in support of the school’s mission. As a member of the leadership team, Amy leads organizational and cultural change initiatives, champions employee engagement, and builds organizational capability. Presently, Amy holds interim leadership responsibility for Ross Career Services and joint interim leadership responsibility for the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.
Amy has over 20 years of human resources experience in the higher education, automotive, and market research sectors. Before joining the Ross School of Business, Amy was with Magna International, a global Fortune 500 company. As the Group Human Resources Manager for Magna Seating of America, she served North American operations. Of note, is her work on a presidential task force charged with the design and implementation of a new product development organization for North America.
Amy received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan and her certification in Leadership Coaching for Organizational Performance from Rutgers University.
The University of Michigan Board of Regents appointed Kevin Hegarty executive vice president and chief financial officer effective April 6, 2015. Prior to joining the University of Michigan, Mr. Hegarty served higher education as the vice president and chief financial officer at the University of Texas at Austin from 2001 – 2015. He held senior leadership roles at: Dell Inc., vice president and chief financial officer, 2000 – 2001; vice president and corporate comptroller, 1997 – 2000; Associates First Capital Corporation/Ford, senior vice president and company comptroller, 1990-1997; Trammell Crow Company, senior group financial manager, 1984 – 1990; and, PricewaterhouseCoopers, senior auditor, 1979-1984.
Mr. Hegarty received his MA in Professional Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin in 1979 and his BBA in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin in 1977.
At the University of Michigan, Mr. Hegarty is responsible for the general supervision of all finances, property and business of the University of Michigan. The CFO organization is made up of 3082 staff responsible for architecture, construction, operations and maintenance of 34 million gross square feet of facilities, parking, and transportation; occupational safety and environmental health; utilities; human resources; information and technology services; financial operations and more than 9 billion in investments.
Dr. Sucheta Joshi is a Pediatric Neurologist and Epileptologist. She completed training at University of California San Francisco (pediatrics), Stanford University (Child Neurology, Clinical Neurophysiology and Epilepsy), and University of Michigan School of Public Health (Masters in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis). Dr. Joshi joined the faculty at the University of Michigan in 2003, and is currently Clinical Associate Professor in Pediatrics and Communicable Diseases (Division of Pediatric Neurology) at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She is also the Director of Pediatric Telemedicine Services and Associate Residency Program Director.
Her clinical interests focus on caring for infants, children and adolescents with treatment-resistant epilepsy, EEG and EEG monitoring. Her interests also include improving access to epilepsy care for children in medically underserved areas. She is Clinical Lead for the Michigan Pediatric Epilepsy Telemedicine program, and the Medical Director for the National Co-ordinating Center of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) to improve care for Children and Youth with Epilepsy. Dr. Joshi is one of the site co-investigators for Pediatric Epilepsy Research Consortium, a multicenter group to study the rare pediatric epilepsies, and was part of the EEG core for the Epilepsy Phenome Genome Project study.
Dr. Joshi has served as faculty for the AAP-NCE, CNS and American Association of Physician Assistants. She has mentored several medical students, residents, fellows and social workers on research projects. She has published several peer-reviewed manuscripts, book chapters and is a reviewer for numerous scientific journals. She is a member of the AAP, AES, CNS and ICNA.
Laurita Thomas is the Associate Vice President for Human Resources at the University of Michigan. She is responsible for human resource policy for all UM campuses and a full range of comprehensive integrated human resource services, products and operations. She is responsible for 330 staff, a budget of $36M, and a benefit plan of approximately $1B.
Her professional human resources career spans roles in the financial industry, higher education and healthcare. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan in political science and economics. Her graduate work is in guidance and counseling and business administration. She has published many articles and book chapters, including Inside the Minds, The Role of Human Resources, Aspatore Books.
She has served as a leader in professional organizations including the AAU Human Resource Institute; TIAA–CREF Advisory Council; Fellow, TIAA-CREF Research Institute; CUPA-HR National Board Member; the CIC Human Resources Officers; University Health System Consortium (UHC) Human Resources Officers Council and Chair; and Medical Center Employee Relations Association President (MCERA). In the community she has contributed through service organizations. She has held civic appointments on the Mayor’s Commission on Increasing Safety for Women; the Executive Committee of the Washtenaw County Workforce Development Board; SOS Community Services Board Director Emeritus; Dance for PD Board, New York, NY; Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; Dispute Resolution Center; Girls Group Advisory Board, SafeHouse; Ann Arbor Branch NAACP; and the Ann Arbor Chapter of The Links, Inc. She has two adult sons and three grandchildren.
