Modes of Work

Modes of work have been established and will be rolled out in calendar year 2024, to be used consistently across the Ann Arbor campus, with the potential to be adopted on all campuses including Michigan Medicine. In the future, these modes will be incorporated into job postings, HR systems, and other applicable areas. The modes are:

Onsite

The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence.  Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan

Hybrid

The work requirements allow both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence. On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements.

Mobile/Remote

The work requirements allow for the majority or all of the work to be completed offsite.  On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements, but is not generally scheduled on a recurring basis
