University data is complex. The HR data glossary tool can help you understand key data definitions and SQL code used in standard HR reports. The below links are here to help explain more about university and HR data access along with training opportunities.
Data Governance & Data Access:
- UHR data stewards and managers follow the University Data Governance and Data Stewardship Framework
- For training and access requirements, see the Online Access Request System (OARS)
- Most HR data reporting access is offered through the U-M Data Warehouse utilizing the Human Resources Data Sets. The ITS managed data dictionaries help provide detailed information on the available HR data tables and data fields.
HR Data User Group:
- Join the HR Data & Analytics User Group through MCommunity - this group meets at least quarterly and is a great opportunity to learn and network within the HR campus community. The HR Data & Analytics Team shares key technology and data updates along with new training opportunities for all levels of HR data users.
HR Data & Reporting Training Resources:
- A list of suggested training is available in our HR Data & Reporting Reference Guide. This includes links to a few My LINC trainings specifically on HR data and the HRMS system.
- The U-M Sensitive Data Guide is also an important resource for determining which IT services to use when collecting, processing, storing, or sharing university data.
