The generosity of the U-M community is inspiring. March 19 is Giving Blueday, the university’s annual day of online giving, where thousands come together to support colleges, schools and worthy causes. If you are planning to give, consider supporting the health of Michigan’s youth through Project Healthy Schools.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Project Healthy Schools is a community-University of Michigan collaborative and evidence-based program that aims to improve the current and future health of Michigan’s youth. This program is a subset of MHealthy and enables middle school students to increase physical activity, eat healthier, and understand how nutrition and activity influence their lifelong health. Since 2004, Project Healthy Schools has been implemented in over 150 schools across the state of Michigan.

PHS relies on gifts from people like you to sustain the program year after year in existing schools and to reach more schools across the state, benefiting future generations of students.

For example, a donation of:

  • $50 buys a sports ball package for physical education class.

  • $100 buys a professional blender and supplies for a smoothie tasting wellness initiative.

  • $500 buys pickleball nets and equipment for a school’s PE program.

You can also encourage your family and friends to contribute by following Project Healthy Schools on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram and sharing the Giving Blueday announcements.
