The election for the union staff representative to serve on the University of Michigan Police Department Oversight Committee is underway and continues through July 14, 2025.

The Police Department Oversight Committee receives and makes recommendations regarding grievances against any police officer or the U-M Police Department. Its findings and recommendations are reported to the Executive Director, Division of Public Safety and Security.

The six-member oversight committee includes two students, two faculty members (one Senate faculty and one non-Senate faculty), and two staff members (one union and one non-union), who are nominated and elected by their peers for two-year terms.

University Human Resources is conducting this election July 7-14, 2025. Staff members in the AFSCME, HOA, IUOE, MNA/UMPNC, SEIU, Skilled Trades, UMMAP, and UPAMM unions are eligible to vote. The elected candidate will serve on the committee for a two-year term beginning July 28.
