Secure 2.0 Act Contribution Calculator

View your maximum SECURE 2.0 Act Roth 403(b) SRA contribution and your maximum SECURE 2.0 Act Roth 457(b) contribution for the year, as well as for the remaining number of paychecks through Wolverine Access

  1. Select the Faculty & Staff tab.

  2. Choose Employee Self-Service.

  3. Click on Benefits.

  4. Select Calculate Ret. Contribution.

At the top of the page are two tabs in the upper lefthand corner: View 403(b) and View 457(b). The “As Of Date” in the upper righthand margin should read the current year (2026). Make sure you are viewing the limit for the 2026 year. The “Recalc for Next Year” button will calculate the limit for the following calendar year (2027), but will not display the SECURE 2.0 Act contribution until late December 2026.  

View 403(b) Tab

The top section of the calculator for the 403(b) tab will display your calculation data (salary, age, pay frequency). It will indicate if you are subject to the SECURE 2.0 Act Roth mandate and display your per-paycheck SECURE 2.0 Act Roth 403(b) SRA contribution maximum. It will also display your per-paycheck 403(b) SRA contribution maximum, which is the maximum amount you may contribute to reach the $24,500 limit. This also takes into account the 5% 403(b) contribution you make to the Basic Retirement Plan. The bottom half of the page illustrates the Basic Retirement Plan contribution calculation, and has a separate section for the 403(b) SRA contribution calculation, as well as a section for the SECURE 2.0 Act Roth 403(b) SRA contribution maximum.

View 457(b) Tab

The top section of the calculator for the 457(b) tab will display your calculation data (salary, age, pay frequency). It will indicate if you are subject to the SECURE 2.0 Act Roth mandate and display your per-paycheck SECURE 2.0 Act Roth 457(b) contribution maximum. It will also display your per-paycheck 457(b) contribution maximum, which is the maximum amount you may contribute to reach the $24,500 limit. The bottom half of the page illustrates the 457(b) contribution calculation and has a section for the SECURE 2.0 Act Roth 457(b) contribution maximum.

Frequent Questions

If I want to add the SECURE Act Roth 403(b) SRA contribution and/or SECURE Act Roth 457(b) contribution, do I have to defer the entire $8,000 maximum amount ($11,250 if age 60-63)?
No. You may contribute any amount; there is no minimum.

Do I have to wait until I contribute $24,500 in 403(b) amounts first before I add the SECURE Act Roth 403(b) SRA or the pre-tax 457(b) if I don’t already contribute to the 457(b) pre-tax?
No. You may add the SECURE Act Roth 403(b) SRA contribution or even the pre-tax 457(b) at any time. If you wait until you contribute $24,500 to the 403(b) SRA before adding the SECURE 2.0 Act Roth 403(b) SRA contribution or add the 457(b) pre-tax contribution, there may not be enough paychecks left in the year to reach your target deferral total for the year. 

Do I have to wait until I contribute $24,500 in 457(b) amounts first before I add the SECURE Act Roth 457(b) or the pre-tax 403(b) SRA if I don’t already contribute to the 403(b) SRA pre-tax?
No. You may add the SECURE Act Roth 457(b) contribution or even the pre-tax 403(b) SRA at any time. If you wait until you contribute $24,500 to the 457(b) before adding the SECURE Act Roth 457(b) contribution or 403(b) SRA pre-tax contribution, there may not be enough paychecks left in the year to reach your target deferral total for the year.
