Free, online webinars will be held throughout October to introduce faculty, staff and retirees to U-M’s new health plans and address questions before Open Enrollment 2024 begins.

The university is offering a new, Consumer-Directed Health Plan (CDHP) with a Health Savings Account (HSA) to benefits-eligible employees. U-M also will provide new, comprehensive Medicare Advantage health plans to replace current Medicare supplemental plans to Medicare-enrolled retirees and survivors. 

Open Enrollment begins Monday, Oct. 16, and continues through 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27. Changes can be made to health, dental, vision and legal plan enrollments during this time. Faculty and staff also may add eligible dependents and enroll in a flexible spending account (FSA).

Benefits changes and new rates take effect Jan. 1, 2024.

Live Webinars Offered in October

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM), Blue Care Network (BCN), HealthEquity, and Physicians Health Plan (PHP) will participate in a series of free, hour-long webinars next month to introduce the new health plans. A question-and-answer period is included in each session. Registration is required.

CDHP/HSA Webinars

Join BCBSM and HealthEquity to learn how the CDHP paired with an HSA can save on health-care premiums and build long-term health savings. 

Webinars will take place during the following dates and times:

• Friday, Oct. 13, at noon

• Tuesday, Oct. 17, at noon

• Thursday, Oct. 19, at 6 p.m.

BCBSM/BCN representatives will introduce the Medicare Advantage PPO and U-M Premier Care Advantage plans during the following dates and times:

• Monday, Oct. 23, through Friday, Oct. 27, at noon
