UHR has a longstanding history of conducting thoughtful, strategic annual plans that guide the department through the fiscal year. As UHR leadership began preparing for FY26, they turned to Look to Michigan, the university’s 10-year strategic vision, for inspiration. The result of this months-long work is UHR’s five-year strategic framework.
Framework Purpose and Impact Areas
UHR’s framework supports Look to Michigan by focusing on three key purpose areas:
-
Building business value,
-
Supporting our people, and
-
Improving health and well-being.
Within each purpose area is a UHR-specific impact area. These four impact areas highlight UHR’s demonstrated value and also align with Look to Michigan’s vision. Within each impact area are long-term commitment statements that serve as objectives and show where we will focus our work over the next five years. You can explore the framework’s commitment statements.
Annual Implementation Cycle
To support UHR’s five-year commitments, we will follow an annual cycle of strategic planning, ongoing team member performance conversations and more to allow UHR to continuously support, improve and advance our purpose and objectives. Many inputs are involved in this process, such as:
-
Strategic planning and implementation,
-
Outcome metrics,
-
Strategic communications,
-
Budget planning and monitoring, and
-
Performance and development.
