Now in its 21st year, Active U has become an annual tradition to help motivate the U-M community to get moving during colder months. Registration for MHealthy’s 12-week physical activity program is now open on the MHealthy Portal

Sign up as an individual or join a team with coworkers, U-M friends and spouses/other qualified adults (OQA). All fitness levels and abilities are encouraged to join. Tracking physical activity minutes started on Jan. 19 and continues through April 12.

All movement counts in Active U – walk, roll, shovel snow, stretch, lift weights or play with the kids or pets. It’s up to the participant how they meet their physical activity minutes goal.

This year’s program highlights include:

  • Active U T-shirts: Qualify for a 2026 T-shirt by meeting the program’s completion requirements. Participants can also upgrade to other Active U items.

  • Easy logging: Manually log minutes on the portal or sync to an activity tracking device or app.

  • Active U Slack channel: Connect with other participants, share photos, find encouragement and stay motivated.

  • Physical Activity Library on MiVideo: Access more than 100 videos in such categories as strength training, cardio, yoga and more.

  • Charity of choice: During Active U, participants have the option to donate to the Maize and Blue Cupboard. The cupboard helps to ensure the U-M community receives equitable access to healthy, nutritious and nourishing food.

Active U is open to all faculty, staff, students, retirees and spouses/OQAs of active employees. Learn more about Active U and register by Feb. 2.
