Tens of thousands of Active U participants have logged more than 300 million exercise minutes since 2005. MHealthy’s 12-week physical activity challenge celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, continuing the tradition of encouraging the U-M community to get moving during colder months.
Registration for Active U is now open on the MHealthy Portal. Participants can sign up as an individual or join a team with their coworkers, U-M friends and spouses/other qualified adults (OQA). All fitness levels and abilities are encouraged to join. Tracking physical activity minutes starts Jan. 20.
In Active U, all movement counts – walk, roll, shovel snow, stretch, lift weights or play with the kids or pets. It’s up to the participant how they meet their physical activity minutes goal.
This year’s program highlights include:

Active U T-shirts: Qualify for a 20th anniversary T-shirt by meeting the program’s completion requirements. Participants can also upgrade to other Active U items.

Easy logging: Manually log minutes on the portal or sync to an activity tracking device.

Active U Slack channel: Connect with other participants, find encouragement and share throw-back photos and memories from the last 20 years.

Swag Squad: Enter to win $25 gift cards by sharing photos and posting to Active U’s Slack Channel. In recognition of 20 years, participants are encouraged to incorporate “20” or Roman numeral “XX” in their photos.

Special downloads: Get 20th anniversary Zoom background and e-signature.

Physical Activity Library on MiVideo: Access more than 100 videos in such categories as strength training, cardio, yoga and more.

Charity of choice: During Active U, participants have the option to donate to MHealthy’s Resource Coach Mini Grant program. The program offers support to U-M faculty and staff experiencing a financial crisis or other personal hardship.
Active U is open to all faculty, staff, students, retirees and spouses/OQAs of active employees. The deadline to register is Feb. 3.
