Child Care Project Groups

Executive Group

This group provides guidance for U-M child care leadership and for the Project Director.

  • E. Royster Harper, Vice President for Student Affairs
  • Janet A. Weiss, Vice Provost for Academic Affairs & Dean of Rackham School of Graduate Studies

Steering Committee

This group advises the Project Director and has a leadership role in the review, discussion and problem-solving associated with the Child Care Initiative. Membership in the group includes individuals from the Senate Advisory Committee on University Affairs, Human Resources & Affirmative Action, the Child Care Initiative project team, parents, Rackham School of Graduate Studies, School of Education, Office of Communications, and members of the research community.

Core Design Group

This group provides recommendations for major aspects of the project. Membership includes all child care center directors or senior directors and members of the Child Care Initiative project team.

Project Management Team

This group works regularly and directly with the Project Director and Project Manager to implement the activities of the Child Care Initiative. The core members are supported by professional staff from financial analysis, facilities, and other offices as needed.

Research Stakeholder Group

This group has an important advisory function. The members may review and provide feedback related to research and training opportunities. Group membership includes researchers from several schools, parents, and members of the project team.

Stakeholder Communication Group

This is the core communication advisory group. It will provide feedback on planned communications to various audiences. This group includes individuals from Human Resources & Affirmative Action, the U-M Health System, University Housing, parents, Child Care Network/Washtenaw Regional 4C, and members of the project team.

Teachers Review Group

This group may be asked to provide recommendations for major aspects of the project including facility expansion/renovation and staff training. The group's membership includes teachers from the various centers, a representative from the U-M Health System Child Care Center, UHR's Work/Life Resource Center, and members of the Child Care Initiative project team.

Business & Finance Integrated Consulting

B&F Integrated Consulting will coordinate existing business-related services as needed for the work of the Initiative. The types of expertise that the Initiative can draw upon include: Change management and communications; construction and renovation; financial analysis and auditing; HR policy; organizational design; health and safety; and systems development.
