Applications for the 2021 Voices session are now pending review. New members will be notified by the end of June.
Voices of the Staff historically accepts applications for new members from March 1 through March 31 each year...in 2021 the application deadline was extended to April 30. The next application session is scheduled to start on March 1, 2022.
Staff at the Ann Arbor campus and Michigan Medicine are encouraged to apply (staff from the Dearborn and Flint campuses are appointed). Before applying, you should consider the time commitment and talk with your supervisor for approval of volunteering your time to Voices.
Voices 2020 in Review
Another good tip is to get a sense of what the program is like is to review the Voices of the Staff 2020 annual report (the report is in Adobe Spark, for more accessible version, see this webpage). The report highlights the “power of connection” in helping staff foster innovation and professional growth. The digital report provides a sense of Voices history, the make-up of the program, videos from current members, and supportive statements from leaders that include President Schlissel.
Voices Makes a Positive Impact for You and Your Supervisor
When discussing your participation with your supervisor, consider sharing this video to show how Voices is a good thing for everyone!
Every Voices member is expected to commit to:
- A 4-hour kickoff meeting in July.
- Monthly team meetings of 90 minutes to two hours.
- Additional time as needed to work on team projects.
Two or three members from each of the network teams may additionally choose to serve on the Voices Core Team. Core Team members are expected to commit to:
- Two-hour quarterly meetings.
- Available as needed: Core Team will meet as needed when convened by the President, Executive Officers, and Associate Vice President for Human Resources.
