How You Can Participate in Voices

  • The 2022 Voices team was recently selected. The next application period is scheduled for March 2023.

Voices of the Staff historically accepts applications for new members from March 1 through March 31 each year. In 2022, the application timeline has shifted due to current challenges. Applications are now being accepted and the deadline has been extended to April 30, 2022.

Staff at the Ann Arbor campus and Michigan Medicine are encouraged to apply (staff from the Dearborn and Flint campuses are appointed). Before applying, you should consider the time commitment and talk with your supervisor for approval of volunteering your time to Voices.

How Voices Team Topics are Selected

Every three to four years, Voices of the Staff conducts a staff survey and town hall. The goal is to learn what topics are of greatest interest to our staff members. In November 2021, a survey was emailed to all staff members and yielded 2,000 responses. The responses defined discussion topics for a January 2022 Town Hall (see a summary here), which in turn resulted in the current Voices Network Team topics.

Voices in Review

To get a sense of what the program is like is to review the Voices of the Staff 2020 annual report (the report is in Adobe Express, for a more accessible version, see this webpage). The report highlights the “power of connection” in helping staff foster innovation and professional growth. The digital report provides a sense of Voices history, the make-up of the program, videos from current members, and supportive statements from leaders.
