Q: Why is the university highly recommending participation in this program for all faculty and staff?
A: The university recognizes that when members of our community come forward about wrongdoing, it helps to shed light on the harm we otherwise would not know about. By participating in a single education program, all faculty and staff will receive the same basic information about maintaining a respectful, inclusive and welcoming working and learning environment.
Q: Who is recommended to complete the training?
A: It is highly recommended that all University of Michigan faculty and staff members, regardless of campus or location, complete the retaliation prevention online training. This includes temporary staff, student employees, bargained-for staff and graduate student employees.
Q: Can employees participate in the training during paid working hours?
A: Yes. Supervisors must allow time during working hours for current employees to complete the module. Once logged into My LINC, the module should take about 25 minutes to complete.
Q: If an employee has recently completed another related training, is it still recommended to complete this program?
A: Yes, it is highly recommended that all faculty and staff complete “Building a Culture That Thrives” regardless of whether they have participated in other training programs.
Q: How can someone confirm that a session was recorded as a completion?
A: Individuals will be able to see the course listed in the “completed” section of their training schedule in My LINC following completion of the module. An individual can also download their training transcript at any time in the My LINC Reporting menu.
Q: How can units track who has completed the training?
A: University Human Resources will provide participation reports to units.
Q: Who do people contact if they have problems with the My LINC site?
A: If people have technical problems with the module or My LINC, they should contact the ITS Help Desk at 734-764-HELP, [email protected] or its.umich.edu/help.
Q: Is My LINC accessible for users of adaptive technology (e.g. screen readers)?
A: Please use the text-based Building a Culture That Thrives: Preventing Retaliation Transcript if you encounter any accessibility issues when using the My LINC training platform. If an employee has a disability and needs accommodation to complete a My LINC training course, contact [email protected]. Please provide as much advance notice as you can, and staff will work to provide assistance as quickly as possible.
Q: Who can I contact with questions about the module?
