Approximately 4,700 employees across Michigan Medicine, University Health Services and on the Ann Arbor campus are members of UMMAP (United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals) Local 6739. They play an important role in Michigan Medicine’s education, research and patient care missions through a variety of work across nearly 150 job classifications.
UMMAP is a new union composed of six bargaining units, the first of which was recognized by the University in February of 2023. These bargaining units consist of: Advanced Diagnostic, Emergency and Procedures Technologists (ADEPT), Medical Assistants/Scribes; Behavioral Health; Rehabilitation; Laboratory; and Integrated Health Professionals.
Employees represented by UMMAP receive generous health care benefits, including low-cost prescription drug coverage and copays for medical care, retirement savings plans with a 2-to-1 matching employer contribution, paid time off, as well as seniority and job security rights.
