Buying a home may be the largest single financial purchase you’ll ever make. It’s essential that prospective first-time homebuyers understand what’s involved.

On June 24, attend the virtual workshop “Own It: Building Confidence for First-Time Homebuyers” to learn what you need to know before, during and after purchasing a home.

Led by Mark Munzenberger, financial education manager, and Nicole Bernacik, financial specialist, both with the University of Michigan Credit Union, you’ll get practical tips that will boost your confidence on taking the next steps towards homeownership.

Topics include:

  • Affordability: Down payments, property taxes, credit and insurance

  • Applying for a mortgage: What are your options and what documentation is needed

  • Home maintenance: What to expect and typical costs

  • Terminology: Appraisals, inspections, PMI, realtors and more

Date: June 24, 2025
Time: 12-1 p.m.
