When should I retire?

That question can be a head-scratcher. Many considerations are involved, including:

  • Do I have enough money saved to live comfortably?
  • Will I miss working?
  • How much will I receive from Social Security?

Here’s a place to start: TIAA, a trusted partner in administering U-M’s Retirement Savings Plans, will host a U-M-only webinar Friday, April 11, to help participants answer those questions – and more.

Set Your Retirement Date: Understand the Factors to Get You to Your Goal takes place from noon to 1 p.m. Registration is free to U-M faculty, staff and retirees.

The event will cover steps toward deciding when the time is right to retire, including estimating retirement expenses, closing any income gap, and understanding key milestones that can impact retirement finances.
