Non-Union Staff Representative Election for Police Department Oversight Committee Ends June 19

The election for a non-bargained for staff member to serve a two-year term on the University of Michigan Police Department Oversight Committee is now underway and continues through June 19, 2022. 

Non-bargained for staff can review the candidate statements and vote by visiting the University Human Resources website

Appointment of the newly elected member to the committee will take place in July. 

The six-member committee is comprised of two student members, two faculty members (one Senate and one non-Senate faculty), and two staff members (one union and one non-union), who are nominated and elected by their peers for two-year terms. 

The committee reviews grievances against any university police officer and makes recommendations to the Executive Director, Division of Public Safety and Security.

Non-senate faculty member named

Jayapalli Rajiv Bapuraj, clinical professor of radiology in the Department of Neuroradiology at Michigan Medicine, recently joined the committee as a non-senate faculty member.
