The Candace J. Johnson Award for Staff Excellence is now accepting nominations for staff members who demonstrate a commitment to excellence, generosity, and compassion. These key traits help create a supportive and outstanding work environment at our university.

“We deeply appreciate the many ways our staff contribute to the success of our students, faculty, and patients,” Provost Laurie McCauley said. “Honoring their unwavering commitment to excellence through this award is a fitting tribute to Candy Johnson’s lasting legacy.”

All regular staff members on the Ann Arbor campus and at Michigan Medicine are eligible for nomination by any member of the university community. This year, two staff members will be selected to receive the award, which includes a $1,500 prize and a plaque presented by the Office of the Provost. Nominations are due by Oct. 11.

Candy Johnson, a longtime staff member in the provost’s office, was dedicated to the U-M community and its mission. Following her passing in 2004, the provost’s office established this award to honor her contributions. Johnson was known for her pursuit of excellence and her ability to inspire and support her colleagues.
