Remote New Hires Working within the U.S.
The I-9 form must be completed for all new employees, whether they are on campus or work in some other location. About Remote New Hires are instructions for completing an I-9 form for a new hire who will not physically work on a University of Michigan campus. The Remote Hire Instructions and Form are to be completed by the hiring department.

I-9 Form Work Aids
The work aid listed below will assist those who complete I-9 forms to audit the I-9 form before submission; recognize which document numbers are used on the I-9 form; and to understand the work eligibility that is associated with different visa classes.
Unit I-9 Compliance Officers are assigned by their unit or department. They are responsible for I-9 compliance in their assigned area. They ensure that anyone completing I-9's is trained and knowledgeable about I-9 requirements, they address issues of non-compliance including serving as the point of contact if I-9's require correction. The list below is updated monthly and has the Unit I-9 Compliant Officers listed by department. Questions about the Unit I-9 Compliance group can be directed to David Day, University Human Resources.
