EXTRA! EXTRA! eMploy System is Moving In House
Will this affect how you do business?
What do you mean it’s moving in house? I thought it was already here! Well, technically, the eMploy sites (Recruit & Hire, Career Website, and Career Portal) have been run from a Web server hosted and maintained by the software’s vendor in Boston, Massachusetts since the go live date in May 2006. A plan was made to move the system to an in house server maintained by MAIS some time after one year. So the folks at MAIS have been working fast and furious with our vendor to facilitate this move to a U-M server and we are almost ready to go. The expected go live date for the move is early December.
What exactly will this mean for the average eMploy department based user or job seeker? Well functionally, you shouldn’t notice anything different. The screens and menus will not change and you will still log on the same way you’ve always logged in to the system. However, you might notice that the URL’s have changed. In fact, if you have pages bookmarked at all, you will most likely see a splash page that contains the new URL that will redirect you to the correct URL for 30 days. Additionally, the emails that you receive from xxxx@aspdeploy.com will now start coming from an xxxx@dsc.umich.edu address.
Operationally, you need to take note of some important dates and changes. Listed below are some of the important highlights that will most likely affect how you do business during the move period and beyond. Additionally, this would be a great opportunity to take a look at your requisitions that have been open for 180 days or longer. If they haven’t yet been filled, chances are your candidate pool has gone stale and you might want to cancel that requisition and post a fresh one. Use the COPY TO A NEW REQUISITION feature located on the job requisition tab for the old posting, for an easy way to create a new posting number for your position.
DURING THE MOVE:
**There will be a system outage that affects both departmental users and all job seekers beginning Thursday, November 29th at 5:00 pm. We expect the system to be back up and running by Monday, December 3rd at 7:00 am. You will not be able to transact any business on eMploy during this time and job seekers will not be able to review or apply for positions.
**The deadline to post a new requisition or process an offer prior to the move is 5:00 pm on Wednesday, November 28th. Please also note that any postings that would have normally ended during the scheduled outage should be extended so that it will meet the minimum posting requirements taking the downtime into consideration.
EMAIL AND WEB ADDRESS CHANGES:
**The eMploy Web address (URL) will change. If you have eMploy sites saved as favorites, you will need to update them. The links to eMploy pages on Wolverine Access and at www.umjobs.org will be updated when the system becomes available again on December 3rd.
**The system generated e-mails will remain the same; however the email address will be changing. The new email address is: umrh@dsc.umich.edu . To ensure that you continue to receive these system-generated e-mails, please make sure that any spam blocking software you use is set to allow e-mails from this sender.
NEW HOURS OF OPERATION:
**The new hours of operation for eMploy will be 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with the exception of Friday 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. and Saturday 11:00 p.m. to Sunday 7:00 a.m. to perform system maintenance.
