Did you know… that all newly hired regular staff are asked to create their own uniqname and UMICH (Level 1/Kerberos) password as part the new employee Onboarding process? This occurs prior to new employee orientation as the new hire needs this information in order to verify personal information using Wolverine Access. |

TARGET FILL DATE EMAILS FIXED You may have noticed that the Target Fill Date emails are back in action. Only now you should be receiving them one week prior to job requisition target fill date that was entered at the time the job requisition was created. Previously, due to a system glitch, these emails were being sent out on a weekly basis. |

New Employee Onboarding Process
No doubt you’ve heard about this thing called “the Onboarding process” and the timeline included in last months Newsletter made reference to it as well. But what exactly is it? This process really begins after the candidate has accepted your contingent offer and continues right through the scheduled date for New Employee Orientation. The timeline is attached to this document for your reference again, and below is a more detailed account of what is included in those steps. It’s a well orchestrated process, with many points of contact. Any glitches along the way can delay the hire, so be sure and work with your Employment Process Coordinator on any issues you or your new hire are encountering.

New Hire accepts contingent offer and hiring unit completes "Offer" panel in eMploy. |
Hiring Unit: must complete Offer Panel in eMploy and add EPC as last approver. |
DAY 1 |
EPC approves "Offer" and initiates the Contingent Offer Confirmation email to new hire and orders a HireRight background check. Completes Michigan State Police ICHAT check and a final review of the Restricted Table is completed. |
EPC: orders background checks and reviews restricted record, generates confirmation email |
DAY 2 |
New Hire receives an email from HireRight requesting that they complete the electronic consent to perform a background check. |
New Hire: electronic consent required. |
DAY 5 |
Background check complete. Note: Average turnaround = 2.4 days from the date the new hire completes the consent process. |

DAY 5 |
EPC verifies NEO date with Hiring Unit, generates a welcome letter to the new hire and the hiring team. Welcome letter alerts the new hire to NEO information and instructions for the balance of the Onboarding process. EPC changes the Offer Status to "Hired". |

DAY 5 |
Search/Match is completed in Mpathways overnight and a UMID is assigned if required. |

DAY 6 |
New Hire without a previous relationship*** to the University receives an automated email with newly assigned UMID and a second email with a One Time Identifier (password) to use with UMID to link to a special website and create uniqname/UMICH (kerberos) password. |

New hire is prompted to verify personal information in an MPathways program once uniqname and password have been created |

*** If the new hire has a previous relationship with the University and has been assigned a uniqname and UMICH password, the email they receive will instruct them to contact the ITD office to reset the password and then link to the personal information verification page. |

New Hire will receive a reminder email every day until this process is completed. Once complete, the new hire appointment information will be loaded into Mpathways. |

NEO DATE |
New Hire attends orientation and completes W4 tax forms, Direct Deposit, Emergency Contact information and other items utilizing Wolverine Access Employee Business Portal. |

*** Previous relationship refers to former employees, students or prospective students and any other person assigned uniqname prior to this hire.
