In June 2022, U-M enacted an Electronic and Information Technology Accessibility official policy. The policy covers digital formats such as websites, documents and software programs. Digital accessibility applied consistently avoids potential barriers for individuals with disabilities. This introductory course will provide an overview of:

• What digital accessibility is
• Why digital accessibility is important
• How everyone at the university plays a part in making digital content accessible

You will learn to:

• Apply core principles of digital accessibility to your work
• Explain the importance of digital accessibility at U-M
• Identify staff and services at U-M to support your digital accessibility work

You will benefit by:

• Understanding what digital accessibility is and how it relates to disability and assistive technology
• Obtaining additional resources and training to learn more about accessibility topics

Audience:

Any U-M faculty or staff member who would like to have a better understanding of digital accessibility and its impact on workplace culture, relationships and team dynamics
