The University of Michigan-Flint American Federation of Teachers-American Association of University Professors, Chapter 5671 was recognized in April 2024. The union represents tenured and tenure-track faculty members at the UM-Flint campus.

The unit represents approximately 160 tenured and tenure-track faculty working on the UM-Flint campus. Negotiations for the first contract between the university and UMF AFT-AAUP began on Oct. 4, 2024.
