Voices of the Staff Clean Up at Camp

Current and former members of the University of Michigan’s Voices of the Staff program gathered on May 15, 2026, for an afternoon of community outreach at Camp North Star Reach in Pinckney, MI.

The event marked the program’s second "Half Day of Service" at the camp, which provides cost-free outdoor experiences for children with significant medical needs. The reunion allowed staff to channel their collective effort to provide several hours of service activities to help prepare the camp for its seasonal opening in June.

"This is an amazing opportunity to reconnect with fellow alumni and make an impact at a camp that closely aligns with our value of service," said Rich Holcomb, associate vice president for human resources. "There is a great sense of gratification in contributing, even in a small way, to the camp’s goal of providing memorable experiences for so many children.”

Nearly 50 staff members helped by cleaning windows, weeding flowerbeds, spreading mulch, splitting wood, and painting “moose tracks” around the camp.

Voices of the Staff is the university’s flagship employee engagement program, designed to give staff a voice in university operations and foster a culture of workplace improvement through service.
