As summer approaches, we welcome the long, sun-drenched days, the vibrant sounds of songbirds, and the relaxed energy that follows the busy academic year. It is a season defined by warmth and the opportunity to enjoy some well-earned relaxation.
This seasonal shift offers a perfect window for intentional mindfulness and outdoor connection. Whether it’s finding shade under a historic oak, enjoying a picnic lunch on the grass, or inviting a colleague for a walking meeting along the river, these moments of sunshine are incredibly restorative. Stepping into the summer breeze, even for a short break, provides a natural mental reset and a boost to your mood.
To help you embrace the outdoors, you're invited to two events in the Nichols Arboretum: "A Pause for Well-being" and "A Breath of Fresh Air," a guided nature experience.
Take a Pause for Well-being
You're invited to come to the Arb early and experience "Take a Pause for Well-being," a relaxed, drop-in morning event. It's coordinated by Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum staff in partnership with MHealthy, MDining, Nature Rx, Experience Rx, and Movement Rx. The event features mindful movement, guided nature walks, and breakfast set among the seasonal blooms of the W.E. Upjohn Peony Garden. This collaborative open house offers staff a low-stakes opportunity to recharge outdoors and explore accessible ways to support their mental and physical health.
