University Human Resources and Voices of the Staff is seeking staff input to help shape the U-M workplace. On September 24, a randomly selected group of 10,000 staff members across Michigan Medicine and all U-M academic campuses was emailed invitation to complete a brief survey.
The Voices of the Staff survey gathers feedback on key issues facing university staff today. Responses will be synthesized to form the foundation for discussions at the upcoming Voices of the Staff Town Hall, scheduled for January 26, 2027.
“Voices connects our campuses in a unique way,” said Dyan Jenkins-Ali, associate director of Voices of the Staff. “This survey provides a direct platform for staff members to voice what matters most to them personally and professionally. The insights gathered directly shape our network team priorities and drive actionable workplace improvements that we take straight to executive leadership.”
Staff members who receive the survey email are encouraged to complete it before October 27. Within the survey, respondents can also express interest in attending an in-person town hall on January 26, 2027.
The Voices program conducts a town hall every five years. The survey feedback and input from the town hall is reported directly to the president and executive offers for their endorsement of the future direction for the Voices network teams.
Voices of the Staff is a long-running, volunteer-based employee engagement program at the University of Michigan. Launched in 2005, it brings together staff members from across all academic campuses and Michigan Medicine to share ideas, address workplace climate issues, and provide direct feedback to university executives. Applications to join the program are accepted in March each year.
