Don't Fall Victim to Tax Fraud!

Tax season is prime time for cyber crime. Identity thieves use a variety of clever ways to collect your tax information so they can file a tax return in your name and collect the refund. Stay informed by knowing what to look for and how to prevent tax fraud with these simple tips.

  • File your taxes as soon as possible to reduce the likelihood of identity theft.
  • Beware of phishing emails, text messages and threatening phone scams demanding payment.
  • Ads for filing services that promise large or expedited tax refunds might be phony services trying to take your personal information.
